ELS Awards & Prizes
The European Laryngological Society presents four prestigious awards during its biennial Congress: the Lichtenberger Prize, the Neurolaryngology Award, the Dysphonia International Award, and the Oskar Kleinsasser Award – Storz Prize. While three of these prizes recognize top-ranked abstracts and posters submitted to the scientific program, the Oskar Kleinsasser Award is an honorary recognition awarded directly by the ELS President.
Lichtenberger Prize
Offered by the ELS Presidential Council for the best abstract submission in basic research or clinical investigation in endoscopy, bronchology, esophagology, laryngology, and related science. The author must be under 40 years old, present original unpublished work, and apply during abstract submission.
- Prize: €500 for ELS members (or €250 + 2 years of ELS membership for non-members).
Neurolaryngology Award
Offered by the ELS Presidential Council and MED-EL to a physician whose abstract, according to the jury, was the best submission to the biennial Congress of the Society in basic research or clinical investigation in Neurolaryngology or neighboring fields with impact on Neurolaryngology.
- Prize: €2,000 (prize money will be reduced by the membership fee for full members for two years).
Dysphonia International Award
Offered by Dysphonia International and bestowed for the best poster dedicated to neurolaryngological disorders or dysfunctional dysphonia presented at the biennial Congress or an official ELS event.
- Prize: €1,000 award.
The Oskar Kleinsasser Award – Storz Prize
Offered by the ELS Presidential Council as an honorary award for a recognized senior European laryngologist, sponsored by KARL STORZ.
The recipient is nominated directly by the ELS President and approved by the Presidential Council, independent of abstract submissions.
- Prize: A statue and €2,500 cheque, which the recipient redirects to support young professionals in laryngology.
