Tip 1: Het Steen

Het Steen is the oldest new building in the city. In this centuries-old fortress you can visit Antwerp’s Visitor Center. The Antwerp Story is a brand-new attraction in Het Steen, follow the trail through 11 rooms and learn all about the the history and the identity of Antwerp.

Tip 2: Historic centre

The old city breathes history: admire City Hall and the guild houses on Grote Markt and admire the Cathedral of Our Lady, the largest Gothic building in the Netherlands. Step inside and marvel at the rich interior and two impressive paintings by Rubens. In Museum Plantin-Moretus, on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the history of books and book printing comes to life. And in the diamond museum DIVA you learn all about the close and centuries-old connection between diamonds and Antwerp.

Tip 3: Het Eilandje

In a distant past Napoleon had two docks built on this location; today it is one of the coolest spots in the city. Visit an exposition in MAS | Museum aan de Stroom and enjoy a stunning view on the top floor. A little further, the Red Star Line Museum is also well worth your visit. Here you discover the stories of millions of people with a dream of a better life on the other side of the ocean. And where the city meets the modern port, the Port House is a magnificent eyecatcher

Tip 4: Shopping and fashion tour

Antwerp unquestionably is a shopping city. Walk from Central Station, one of the most beautiful train stations in the world, to the pedestrian boulevard Meir and let yourself be seduced by a varied selection of shops. Fashion lovers make their way to Nationalestraat and surroundings to discover concept stores, cool labels and designer boutiques. Fashion museum MoMu displays fascinating expositions and an exciting selection of avant-garde Belgian and international avant-garde fashion. Feel like exploring the world of Belgian Chocolate? Then make your way to chocolate museum Chocolate Nation.

Tip 5: Het Zuid

Our final tip is Het Zuid, a district with stately mansions, wide boulevards and beautiful squares. Art lovers will appreciate the many art galleries and museums such as FOMU | Photo Museum, M HKA | Museum of Contemporary Art and the beautifully renewed KMSKA | Royal Museum of Fine Arts. When evening falls, it is time to end your day on a stylish and happy note. Aperitifs, fine dining, a Belgian beer at a bar: possibilities are endless.
