Dear colleagues,
Progress in laryngology has evolved exponentially since the invention of the Garcia mirror.
We have entered an era of modernity, as evidenced by the latest developments in immuno-therapy, use of organoids, functional imaging, laryngeal pacing and tissue engineering, to name but a few.
In this modern context, what city other than Antwerp would have been better suited to host our 16th congress. Antwerp is also resolutely forward-looking. A city of freight exchange and chemical and pharmaceutical technology. Antwerp is also trendy city, as evidenced by its fashion museum and school, and its diamond industry. Last but not least, a city of culture, where the genius of many artists was born, including Rubens, the undisputed Flemish master.
The staff of the ENT department of the University hospital of Antwerp and myself will be delighted to welcome you during this 16th congress of the European Laryngological Society.
Let´s exchange and collaborate for the greatest benefit of our patients.
See you soon in this magnificent city of Antwerp.
